"Our organisation, Avens Ltd, has been associated with NAPPI UK since March 1999. Prior to this association staff were asked to restrain Adults with Learning Disabilities, who exhibited challenging behaviour, appropriately, at times in-appropriately and always without any formal accredited training.

Ten years later we no longer use restraint, yet those service users who were being restrained ten years ago are still residing within homes serviced by our organisation. The behaviours exhibited by these service users are the same. What has changed is the staff; they now all think SMART to be safe at work. The NAPPI ethos greets staff at their induction and continues throughout their career in our organisation.
